1822 Capped Bust Half Dollar (50c) O-109
PCGS
XF40
CAC
This CAC-approved XF40 displays everything you want in a circulated Capped Bust half - even gray surfaces, solid remaining detail, and a pleasing overall appearance. The coin shows honest wear consistent with the grade, with Liberty's hair details still crisp and the drapery folds clearly defined. Both sides exhibit smooth, problem-free surfaces with no distracting marks or old cleaning.
The 1822 Capped Bust half dollar represents the series during its peak production years, with over 1.5 million pieces struck at Philadelphia. While not a key date, finding attractive XF examples that haven't been messed with over the past two centuries can be trickier than the mintage figures might suggest. The eye appeal here is excellent - this coin clearly caught CAC's attention for good reason.
