1832 Capped Bust Half Dollar (50c) Small Letters
PCGS
AU50
CAC
The 1832 Capped Bust half dollar is one of the more available dates in the series, with a mintage of 4,797,000 pieces. The "Small Letters" designation refers to the smaller lettering used on the reverse, distinguishing it from the Large Letters variety also produced that year. While not rare in circulated grades, finding problem-free AU examples with original surfaces and strong eye appeal remains a challenge.
This CAC-approved AU50 exemplifies what makes a coin truly choice for the grade. The surfaces display beautiful original gray toning with subtle golden highlights that enhance rather than detract from the coin's appeal. Sharp details remain throughout, with only light wear on the highest points of Liberty's hair and the eagle's feathers. The fields are remarkably clean, showing minimal contact marks, and the overall eye appeal is exceptional for a mid-grade example. A superb representative of this popular early half dollar type.
