1862 Seated Liberty Quarter (25c)

The 1862 Liberty Seated Quarter stands as a significant Civil War issue, struck during one of the most tumultuous periods in American history. As the nation was torn apart by conflict, the Philadelphia Mint continued production of these silver quarters, though many were hoarded as the public lost faith in paper currency. The resulting mintage of just over 900,000 pieces seems substantial but finding mint state examples with original surfaces has become increasingly difficult.
This CAC-approved MS62 example displays exceptional quality for the grade. The coin exhibits lovely original toning with hints of champagne and silver-gray hues that complement its underlying luster. Both the obverse and reverse showcase strong strikes with excellent detail in Liberty's drapery and the eagle's feathers. The surfaces show minimal marks for the grade, and the overall eye appeal is outstanding. The CAC endorsement confirms this coin as a premium example within its grade level.
