1879 Seated Liberty Half Dollar (50c)

CACG MS64+ CAC

The 1879 Seated Liberty half dollar had a robust mintage of nearly 5 million pieces, making it one of the more available dates in the series. However, finding examples with original surfaces and appealing toning in higher mint state grades remains a challenge, as most survivors show significant handling marks or have been cleaned or otherwise processed over the decades.

This CAC-approved MS64+ example showcases exactly what makes original Seated Liberty halves so desirable. Beautiful peripheral toning frames both sides - electric blue and gold hues create a stunning contrast against the lustrous silver centers. The surfaces are remarkably clean for the grade, with only minor contact marks that don't detract from the overall eye appeal. Sharp strike details throughout and excellent preservation make this a standout example that CAC rightfully recognized as having met their tough grading standards.
