1883-S Morgan Dollar ($1)
PCGS AU58
This AU58 example displays excellent luster and eye appeal that's borderline Uncirculated. The surfaces are remarkably clean with just the slightest trace of high point wear keeping it from the MS category. Both obverse and reverse show strong cartwheel luster and minimal contact marks, making this a premium choice for the grade. The strike is sharp throughout with full hair and feather details clearly visible.
The 1883-S Morgan had a solid mintage of over 6 million pieces, but most circulated heavily in the West where silver dollars were preferred over paper money. Finding examples that escaped heavy wear like this one is significantly more challenging than you'd expect from the mintage figures. AU58 represents that sweet spot where you get nearly full mint luster at a fraction of the cost of comparable Mint State examples.
