1891 Seated Liberty Quarter (25c)
ANACS AU55
The 1891 Seated Liberty Quarter represents one of the final issues of this long-running series, which would be replaced the following year by the Barber design. While not particularly scarce in circulated grades, finding examples in About Uncirculated condition with original surfaces has become increasingly difficult as many have been improperly cleaned over the years.
This AU55 example housed in a classic ANACS soapbox displays gorgeous natural toning, with subtle blue and russet hues developing around the peripheries that frame the devices beautifully. The underlying luster remains surprisingly vibrant for the grade, especially in the protected areas. Strike details remain sharp throughout Liberty's gown and the eagle's feathers, with only light wear on the highest points. The eye appeal is exceptional, with clean surfaces that show fewer marks than typically encountered on coins of this era that saw brief circulation.
