1927-D Peace Dollar ($1)
PCGS MS65
The 1927-D Peace Dollar represents one of the more challenging dates from the Denver Mint in this series. With a mintage of 1,268,900 - significantly lower than many of its Philadelphia and San Francisco counterparts - this coin has long been recognized as a semi-key date for Peace Dollar enthusiasts. The roaring '20s economy meant fewer dollars were needed for circulation, resulting in lower mintages from branch mints.
This MS65 example certified by PCGS is truly exceptional. The coin exhibits strong cartwheel luster that radiates across the surfaces when rotated under light. The strike is bold and well-defined, with crisp details on Liberty's hair and the eagle's feathers. The surfaces are remarkably clean for the grade, showing minimal bag marks or abrasions that typically plague Peace Dollars. Subtle champagne toning is beginning to form around the peripheries, enhancing the coin's eye appeal and originality. A premium gem representative of this semi-key date.
