1942/1-D Mercury Dime (10c)
ANACS XF40
The 1942/1-D Mercury dime represents one of the more available overdate varieties in the series, created when the Denver Mint reused 1941 dies and overpunched them with a "2" to create 1942 dies. While not the rarest overdate in the Mercury series, it remains highly sought after by variety collectors and commands a solid premium over regular 1942-D dimes.
This ANACS-graded XF40 example shows honest wear consistent with the grade, displaying natural gray-silver surfaces with good overall eye appeal. The overdate feature remains discernible despite the circulation, and the coin exhibits smooth, problem-free surfaces with no notable marks or defects. A solid mid-grade example of this popular variety.
