1923 $1 Silver Certificate

AU

This 1923 $1 Silver Certificate, Fr. 238, represents the final series of large-size Silver Certificates. As the last of its kind before the transition to small-size currency in 1928, this note holds a special place in U.S. currency history. The design would largely carry forward to become the basis for all subsequent small-size $1 Silver Certificates.

This example displays choice Very Fine condition with moderate circulation evident through light folds and handling. The paper retains its original crispness and the blue Treasury seal and serial numbers remain vibrant against the clean white background. The margins are well-proportioned, and the green reverse shows strong detail with minimal wear. A small spot is visible to the left of the portrait, but it does little to detract from the note's overall eye appeal.
