1795 Flowing Hair Dollar ($1) 3 Leaves

NGC VG10

The 1795 Flowing Hair dollar represents one of America's most historic and significant issues as the first silver dollar struck by the United States Mint. With only 160,295 pieces minted across all varieties, these coins saw heavy use in early American commerce, before being replaced by the Draped Bust design.

This NGC VG10 example shows honest wear consistent with a coin that circulated during the early Federal period. The surfaces display an attractive medium gray patina that has developed naturally over more than two centuries. Despite the circulation, the major design elements remain clearly visible, with the portrait, stars, and date on the obverse still well-defined. The reverse eagle retains good detail in the wings and wreath. This is an authentic piece of American history that has survived remarkably well considering its age and use in commerce.
