1798 Small Eagle Draped Bust Dollar ($1) 13 Stars

A 1798 Small Eagle dollar with a totally undisturbed antique look - mottled steel gray fields with warm rose-tan on the devices and deeper charcoal at the peripheries, the kind of patina that only decades of untouched storage produce. Wear is even and light for the assigned XF45, leaving Liberty's curls and drapery sharp, all 13 stars bold, and the eagle's breast and wing feathers nicely defined. Both sides are pleasingly smooth for a bust dollar, with nothing distracting in the open fields and full, strong legends. The 13 Stars, Small Eagle attribution appears on the label of a PCGS Gold Shield holder, and the green CAC sticker confirms what the photos show: honest, crusty eye appeal on an early type coin.
