1799 Draped Bust Gold Eagle ($10) Small Stars Obverse

WOW! We bought this one raw out of an online estate sale, it had terrible photos, but we thought there was a good chance it was nice, so we went all in! When I opened the package and saw the coin my jaw hit the floor. I texted Noah "Bad news about the 1799 $10..." and let him panic for a few minutes before I let him know that its so pretty I might not be able to let go of it. Preposterously nice antique-gold color with rose and orange accents, and just the right amount of crust give this early $10 a frozen-in-time look. The surfaces are 100% original and unmessed-with, showcasing crisp hair detail and a splendid reverse with excellent feathering. Just a bit of wholesome natural rub defines the grade. In a PCGS holder with a green CAC sticker, this is most attractive piece of early gold we have offered.
