1808 Capped Bust Half Dollar (50c) O-107a
PCGS
VF25
CAC
The 1808 Capped Bust half dollar marked the second year of John Reich's revolutionary new design, replacing the Draped Bust type that had been in use since 1796.
This PCGS VF25 example with CAC approval displays exactly what you want to see in a circulated early half dollar. The surfaces show smooth, even wear with no signs of harsh cleaning or environmental damage. Rich gray-brown patina has developed naturally over the decades, giving the coin excellent eye appeal for the grade. Liberty's hair details remain crisp, and the eagle's feathers show good definition despite the circulation. A solid, original coin that represents the type beautifully.
