1814 Capped Bust Half Dollar (50c)

Frosty and original, this AU example shows steely silver surfaces with soft champagne highlights and a convincing, even skin. Cartwheel luster rolls through the fields despite light high-point friction, and the strike delivers sharp hair detail and crisp feathers. Both sides are refreshingly clean for the grade, with only a few scattered ticks in the fields. We bought this coin raw from an old collection and were sure it would go 58 (and still think it could!) But such is life in the grading game :) An attractive, problem-free eye appeal in a PCGS gold shield holder.
