1823 Capped Bust Half Dollar (50c) O-104
PCGS XF45
The 1823 Capped Bust Half Dollar represents the mature period of this beloved early series, with a mintage of 1,694,200 pieces. While not a low-mintage date, finding examples with original surfaces and strong eye appeal in XF grades has become increasingly difficult as most have been cleaned or show significant circulation wear.
This PCGS XF45 example displays excellent original surfaces with attractive light gray toning and no signs of cleaning or harsh handling. The wear is even and appropriate for the grade, with Liberty's hair details still bold and the drapery showing good definition. Both sides exhibit pleasing luster remnants in the protected areas, and the overall eye appeal is quite strong for a mid-grade circulated Bust half. A solid choice for either type collecting or series completion.
