1824/4 Capped Bust Half Dollar (50c) O-109

The 1824/4 overdate variety is one of the more popular collectible varieties in the Capped Bust Half Dollar series. Overdates like this occurred when the mint reused dies from previous years to save costs, manually punching the new date over the old one.

This CAC-approved AU50 example shows excellent eye appeal with smooth, even gray-brown surfaces that display minimal friction and wear. The coin retains strong detail throughout, with the overdate feature clearly visible in the date area. The surfaces are pleasingly original and free from significant marks or distractions, while the natural toning gives it an attractive, untouched appearance.
