1828 Coronet Large Cent (1c) N-5

Rich mahogany and cocoa-brown surfaces with subtle russet highlights give this coin a wonderfully original look, with soft satiny luster clinging in the protected recesses and around the legends. Detail remains strong and even, the fields are notably clean for the level, and the color is attractively uniform from rim to center. A tiny spot above CENT on the reverse is noted under close light, but it does little to mute the pleasing eye appeal. Housed in an NGC holder with a well-deserved green CAC sticker, this example delivers that classic, wholesome AU look.
