1837 Capped Busy Half Dime (H10C) Large 5C OGH
PCGS MS62
The 1837 Capped Bust half dime holds the distinction of being the final year of this beloved series before production ceased entirely. The half dime denomination would disappear for a year before returning in 1838 with the new Liberty Seated design. The 1837 also features several interesting varieties, making it a popular date among variety specialists and type collectors alike.
This MS62 example displays excellent luster and eye appeal for the grade. The surfaces show a bright, satiny sheen with minimal contact marks, and the strike is sharp throughout both the obverse and reverse devices. The coin maintains strong original mint bloom with just light cabinet friction preventing it from achieving a higher grade. Clean fields and well-preserved details make this an attractive representative of this classic early American silver type.
