1841 Seated Liberty Dollar ($1)
PCGS VF30
Minted during a time when silver dollars were primarily used in international trade rather than domestic circulation, the 1841 Seated Dollar had a modest mintage of just 173,000 pieces. This lower production figure, combined with the fact that many were either exported or melted down for their silver content, makes surviving examples genuinely scarce today.
This VF30 example certified by PCGS displays honest wear from its time in commerce while retaining strong design elements. The coin exhibits a pleasing medium gray patina that has developed naturally over its 180+ years. Liberty's figure remains well-defined, with clear drapery lines and distinct shield details. The reverse eagle retains sharp feather definition and bold shield lines. The surfaces are remarkably problem-free for a coin of this grade, showing no significant marks or issues that would detract from its eye appeal. An excellent representative example of this scarce early Seated dollar.
