1849 Gold Dollar ($1) Open Wreath

Lovely AU58 in an NGC holder, showing rich yellow gold with subtle orange highlights and strongly original skin. Luster is abundant for the grade, flashing through the fields and around the devices, with just a trace of friction on the high points keeping it short of mint state. Strike is solid, with some center weakness typical for the date. Surfaces are pleasingly even with only minor circulation ticks. The eye appeal is undeniably strong for an early gold dollar and this example has that fresh, wholesome look that makes AU58s addictive.
