1859 Pattern Seated Half Dollar (50c) J-235
PCGS PR62
Fresh, original Proof with even dove-gray and champagne-gold toning that suits this what-might-have-been pattern Seated half perfectly. Liberty sits with Mercury-esque fasces and the bold, powerful eagle on the reverse looks ready for battle.
The mirrors are still plenty lively for the grade, with soft frost on the devices. A light old wipe in the left obverse field hold it to 62, though there are no distracting hits and only a couple of tiny rim ticks visible under close light. Sharply struck with squared rims and pleasing reflectivity that pops in-hand. Housed in a modern PCGS gold shield holder with the J-235 attribution on the label - eye appeal comfortably above average for the grade.
