1861 Gold Dollar (G$1)

Deep apricot-orange gold with rosy peach overtones gives this 1861 dollar a rich, thoroughly original look. Soft, satiny luster glows beneath the color on both sides, and the headdress feathers and wreath are sharply rendered. Some as-made speckling is visible under magnification on the obverse- probably the result of an imperfect planchet. Warm, even patina and lively surfaces deliver strong eye appeal, with a green CAC sticker on the PCGS holder.
