1865-S Liberty Quarter Eagle ($2.50)

PCGS AU53 CAC

Glowing antique-gold skin with apricot highlights and softly satiny luster gives this AU53 its beyond superb eye appeal. The wear is evenly distributed with just a whisper of friction on the high points, and the fields remain pleasingly original and undisturbed for the grade. Detail is strong, rims are sound, and the color is wonderfully uniform on both sides. Housed in a PCGS holder with a green CAC sticker confirming the quality - a handsome, no-nonsense example with far better-than-typical visual pop.

Population is 1 (this!) in 53, and the only examples to have sold at auction in better grades in the past 20 years were a 63 CAC for $36,000 and a 63+ CAC for $50,000 -- making this example a relative steal! ;)
