1871 Seated Liberty Dollar ($1)

PCGS XF40

The 1871 Seated Dollar represents the middle years of this long-running series, with a respectable mintage of 1,074,760 pieces. While not a key date, finding problem-free Seated Dollars in XF and higher grades becomes increasingly challenging, as most survivors show heavy wear from extensive circulation during an era when silver dollars saw regular commercial use.

This PCGS XF40 example displays exactly what you'd want in a mid-grade Seated dollar. The surfaces show even, honest wear with no troubling marks or damage. Rich gray-brown toning covers both sides, giving the coin excellent eye appeal for the grade. All major design elements remain sharp and well-defined, with Liberty's gown folds still clearly visible and the eagle's feathers showing good detail. The coin presents beautifully in its holder - a solid, attractive representative of this classic 19th century type.
