1877 Indian Cent (1c)
PCGS MS64 RB CAC
Rich red-brown color with about half the original mint red still glowing through, especially in the protected crannies, gives this coin terrific eye appeal. Satiny cartwheel luster rolls across both sides, with warm orange and copper-rose highlights and deeper chestnut at the peripheries. The luster is super strong for a 64, the surfaces are impressively clean for the grade, but just a faint whisper of strike weakness keeps the grade capped at 64.
Believe it or not, we bought this coin in an NGC MS65 RB CAC holder thinking it was an easy cross, but we had an oopsie :( Standards have changed since the original holdering & stickering, and everyone now calls this a 64 despite our protests (lol). Our loss is your gain - you may now own this wonderfully original, highest of high-end 64RBs w/ CAC approval, knowing it once was (and perhaps once again might be) a 65...
