1880-CC Morgan Dollar ($1) OGH
PCGS
MS65
CAC
The 1880-CC Morgan represents one of the more available Carson City issues, but that's all relative - with a mintage of just 591,000 pieces, it remains a key date that's significantly scarcer than its Philadelphia and San Francisco counterparts. Carson City Morgans have always commanded a premium due to their Wild West heritage and the romantic appeal of the Nevada mint that served the Comstock Lode.
This CAC-approved MS65 example housed in an original OGH displays excellent eye appeal with blazing cartwheel luster and clean, well-preserved surfaces. The strike is sharp throughout, with full hair detail and crisp feather definition on the eagle. Light contact marks are minimal and well-hidden by the coin's brilliant luster. The surfaces show that lovely original mint bloom that makes Morgan dollars so appealing, and CAC's approval confirms this coin is solid for the grade.
