1886 Gold Dollar (G$1)

Gleaming orange-gold proof surfaces with bold cameo contrast and frosty devices give this coin terrific eye appeal. The mirrors are deep and lively, flashing with a watery sheen under light, while the frost on the motifs stands up beautifully. Color is rich and even, with no spots or haze, and the strike is knife-sharp throughout. A few faint bits of friction in the fields keep it at 63, but they are quickly forgotten in hand. Housed in a PCGS holder and approved by CAC, this example is an easy coin to love.
