1886-S Liberty Gold Half Eagle ($5)

Warm, original orange-gold surfaces with lively satiny luster that rolls nicely in hand, housed in an early NGC “fatty” holder and blessed with a gold CAC sticker. The reverse is especially clean for the grade with bold cartwheel and only light ticks, while the obverse shows the scattered contact more consistent with a 62 or 63. Color is even and attractive throughout, and the overall eye appeal is strong for an MS coin from this era. A satisfying, unquestionably original example that we’re happy to call "Gold CAC".
