1889 Seated Liberty Half (50c)
PCGS
AU58
CAC
Purely original and wonderfully wholesome, this example shows an even, antique silver-gray patina with warm golden accents hugging the obverse stars at right. Lively cartwheel peeks through the fields and around the devices, imparting that classic AU “slider” look without any rubby brightness or dipping. Surfaces are clean for the grade — just a few trivial ticks in the obverse right field with no distracting hits or hairlines. Detail remains strong in the feathers and drapery folds, with balanced, natural wear. PCGS got this one right, and the well-deserved green CAC sticker underscores the coin’s originality and eye appeal. Housed in a PCGS holder, fresh and ready for an advanced Seated half cabinet.
This is one of only 3 AU58s ever to earn the green CAC sticker and the only to appear in public auction, where it brought an astonishing $3120 way back in the pre-COVID dark ages of 2018. A true condition and CAC rarity.
