1893-S Barber Half Dollar (50c)
PCGS
VG10
CAC
The 1893-S Barber Half Dollar stands as one of the key dates in this challenging series. With a mintage of just 740,000 pieces, it's one of the lowest production figures for any Barber half from the San Francisco mint. The economic troubles of the Panic of 1893 resulted in many of these coins seeing heavy circulation, making well-preserved examples particularly scarce.
This CAC-approved VG10 example offers exceptional eye appeal for the grade. The coin displays an attractive, even gray patina with honest wear consistent with its grade. Despite its time in circulation, the major design elements remain clear and well-defined, with Liberty's profile and the eagle's features still boldly visible. The distinctive "S" mintmark remains sharp and unmistakable. The smooth, problem-free surfaces indicate this coin circulated naturally without abuse or damage.
