The 1895-O stands as one of the more challenging dates in the Morgan Dollar series, with a relatively modest mintage of 450,000 pieces. While not quite reaching key date status, it's significantly scarcer than most other New Orleans issues and represents a notable condition rarity in higher grades. Most examples that survived did so in lower circulated grades, making AU examples like this one particularly desirable.

This PCGS AU55 CAC example displays excellent eye appeal with original silver-gray surfaces and strong remaining luster that rotates beautifully in the light. The strike is solid for a New Orleans issue, with good detail visible throughout both sides. Clean fields show minimal contact marks, and the overall preservation is impressive for a coin that saw some circulation. The well-deserved CAC sticker confirms this coin meets their strict standards for the grade - a quality example of this better date.
