With a mintage of 5.5 million, this Philadelphia issue is more available than some of the key dates in the series, but still presents a challenge to find in higher grades.

This AU53 example certified by PCGS shows the perfect balance of light circulation and original surfaces. The coin exhibits a pleasing pearl-gray patina with hints of luster still visible in the protected areas. The strike is bold, with crisp stars and well-defined details in Liberty's hair and wreath. Light, even wear appears on the high points, exactly what you'd expect from a properly graded AU53. The surfaces remain remarkably clean for a coin that saw brief circulation, with no distracting marks or abrasions to detract from its excellent eye appeal.
