This coin is ridiculously rare and ridiculously cool. Allow us to explain:
The 1903 Louisiana Purchase Exposition Gold Dollar commemorates the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase and was struck to promote the Louisiana Purchase Exposition held in St. Louis in 1904. In order to thank the dignitaries, congresspeople, and others who helped shepherd the project through the federal bureaucracy, 100 - and only 100 - proof examples of the coins were struck and given as thank-you gifts. This is one of those 100 coins, and it's in remarkable condition
PR62 CAM by CACG, it's a genuine beauty (and likely one of the first few coins struck). The cameo contrast is immediately evident with frosty devices that stand out boldly against deeply mirrored fields. Its vibrant gold luster and pristine condition make it a standout. The surfaces are remarkably clean for the grade, with visible but not troublesome hairlines, and the overall eye appeal is captivating. It's a superb testament to the commemorative coinage of the early 20th century and a true rarity.
