1916-D Mercury Dime (10c)

The 1916-D Mercury dime is the undisputed key date of the series, with a mintage of just 264,000 pieces. As the inaugural year of Weinman's new design, the Denver Mint produced significantly fewer dimes than Philadelphia, making this date essential for any Mercury dime collection. It's the one coin that separates casual Mercury dime enthusiasts from serious collectors.
This PCGS AU53 example with CAC approval is without question one of the nicest examples we've ever handled. The surfaces display lovely gray-silver color. All major design elements remain sharp with only light high-point wear on Liberty's hair and the reverse fasces. The fields are clean and free from distracting marks, and the overall strike is quite respectable for a Denver Mint product of this era. A solid, problem-free example of this essential date.
