1916-D Mercury Dime (10c)

PCGS F15

The 1916-D Mercury dime is the undisputed key date of the entire series, with a mintage of just 264,000 pieces compared to the millions struck at Philadelphia and San Francisco that year. This was the first year of the Mercury dime series, and the Denver Mint's low production makes this date a must-have for serious collectors. Most examples that survive show heavy wear from decades of circulation before anyone realized their significance.

This PCGS F15 example displays even, honest wear consistent with the grade. The surfaces show natural silver-gray color with no signs of cleaning or damage. Mercury's winged cap retains solid detail, and the reverse fasces remain well-defined despite the circulation. The coin presents excellent eye appeal for the grade, with smooth surfaces free of major marks or distractions. A solid, problem-free example of this classic rarity.
