1917 Type 1 Standing Liberty Quarter (25c)
PCGS
MS65 FH
CAC
The 1917 Type 1 Standing Liberty Quarter represents the second and final year of Hermon MacNeil's original design before modifications were made to address concerns about Liberty's exposed chest and the vulnerability of the date to wear. With a mintage of over 8 million pieces, examples are far more obtainable than the legendary 1916, but finding ones with full head detail intact is significantly more challenging.
This PCGS MS65FH example showcases exactly why CAC gave it their coveted sticker. The surfaces radiate with creamy, original luster and display virtually no distracting marks. The strike is superb, delivering the full head detail that gives this coin its special designation. Light silver-gray color with hints of golden toning around the peripheries creates outstanding eye appeal. A truly superior representative of this important first-year type.
