1922 Grant with Star Commemorative Half Dollar (50c) OGH
PCGS
MS65
CAC
The Grant Memorial half dollar with star is dramatically scarcer than its no-star counterpart. While the regular issue saw a mintage of 67,405 pieces, only 4,256 examples of the star variety were produced, making it one of the more challenging classic commemoratives to obtain in high grade. The star, positioned above "GRANT" on the obverse, was added at the last minute to create a premium version for collectors willing to pay extra.
This PCGS MS65 housed in an original OGH with a well-deserved CAC sticker displays exceptional eye appeal for the grade. The surfaces display rich, satiny luster with clean fields and minimal contact marks. The strike is sharp throughout, with full detail on Grant's portrait and the cabin on the reverse. Original golden-silver toning adds to the coin's visual appeal, creating depth without masking any design elements. A premium example of this low-mintage commemorative.
