1922 No D Lincoln Cent (1c) Strong Reverse
NGC
VF30 BN
CAC
The 1922 No D Lincoln cent is one of the most famous error coins in American numismatics. Due to aggressive polishing of the dies at the Denver Mint, the D mintmark was completely obliterated on some coins, creating what appears to be a Philadelphia issue from a year when no cents were actually struck there. The "Strong Reverse" variety is the more desirable of the two main types, showing full wheat ear details rather than the weak, mushy reverse found on other examples.
This CAC-approved VF30 displays excellent eye appeal for the grade, with smooth, even brown surfaces that show minimal disturbance. The obverse retains strong detail in Lincoln's profile, while the reverse wheat ears are fully defined - exactly what you want to see in a Strong Reverse variety. Light handling marks are consistent with the grade, and the natural chocolate-brown patina is particularly attractive. A solid, problem-free example of this classic 20th-century rarity.
