1925 Norse American Commemorative Medal (Thick)

PCGS MS66 CAC

The 1925 Norse American Centennial Medal was struck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of organized Norwegian immigration to America, marking the arrival of the sloop "Restauration" in New York Harbor in 1825. These medals were produced in both "thick" and "thin" varieties, with the thick version being considerably scarcer. The medal's octagonal shape and Norse themes made it instantly popular.

This PCGS MS66 example with its well-deserved CAC sticker showcases exceptional preservation and eye appeal. The surfaces display smooth, lustrous bronze toning with excellent strike definition throughout both the Norse warrior and Viking ship sides. Clean fields show minimal contact marks, and the medal's unique octagonal edges remain sharp and well-defined. The overall visual impact is striking - this medal clearly spent its century in careful hands, resulting in surfaces that rival much higher graded examples.
