1935 Spanish Trail Commemorative Half Dollar (50c)

PCGS MS66+

The 1935 Spanish Trail commemorative half dollar was issued to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Cabeza de Vaca expedition across the American Southwest. With a mintage of only 10,000 pieces, it's one of the lower mintage issues in the classic commemorative series. These coins were distributed by the El Paso Centennial Museum and sold out quickly upon release.

This PCGS MS66+ example represents exceptional quality for the issue and sits just a hair away from a full 67. The coin exhibits pristine satiny surfaces with minimal marks and full, bold strikes on both the obverse and reverse. The luster is complete and unbroken, radiating across the coin's surfaces with a pleasing silver-white brilliance. The eye appeal is exceptional, with the yucca plant on the reverse showing particularly strong definition.
