1862 $5 Legal Tender (Fr. 61a)

Fresh, original paper with a well deserved PPQ notation and excellent eye appeal. Inks are deeply impressed - the black text is razor sharp, the large green devices are vibrant, and the scarlet overprint and serials pop. Bright, clean surfaces front and back with pleasing, even margins and strong corners for the grade. The reverse green is bold and uniformly printed without fade. Two barely visible diagonal handling marks keep this in AU58 territory, yet the note retains a crisp, fully original look in the PCGS holder.
